If you’ve spent any time learning about Bjorn Fitness, you’ve probably noticed we’re fairly specific about who we work with. One of those specifics is age — we only take on clients who are 25 or older. Here’s why.
People under 25 tend not to stay long enough to see results
Coaching takes time. Real, measurable change in the gym — the kind that sticks — typically takes 12 to 24 months of consistent work. In our experience, people in their late teens and early twenties are at a stage of life where priorities shift fast. College ends, jobs change, relationships evolve, and the gym stops being a priority. We’ve watched this happen enough times that we had to make a decision about who we invest our energy in.
That’s not a knock on younger people. It’s just honest about where their heads tend to be.
There are other local businesses that serve that age group well
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and that’s fine. There are gyms and coaches in the area who specialize in working with younger athletes — people with the programming, culture, and patience specifically designed for that demographic. We’d rather point someone in the right direction than take their money and deliver a mediocre experience.
It’s more rewarding to help a 65-year-old relearn to get off the floor
This is the honest truth behind why we built Bjorn the way we did. When a 65-year-old comes to us and six months later tells us they played on the floor with their grandkids for the first time in years, nothing compares to that. The stakes feel different. The gratitude is different. And the need is different.
A 22-year-old can figure things out. A 65-year-old with declining mobility, bone density concerns, and a doctor telling them to “exercise more” — that person needs us in a way that makes the work feel genuinely meaningful.
Coaching is a serious investment — and it should be treated like one
At our price point and level of commitment, coaching demands a certain seriousness from the client. In general, people over 25 have a clearer picture of what they’re investing in and why. They’ve usually tried a few things on their own. They know what “just figuring it out” has gotten them so far. That tends to make them better clients — more coachable, more consistent, and more likely to actually get results.
So if you’re over 25 and ready to be guided — we’re here.
